Copycat Chipotle Hot Salsa recipe

Who doesn’t love homemade salsa?!  I think the best part about this is that you don’t need 100% super fresh ingredients and you know exactly what’s going into it!  No preservatives, no chemicals…100% clean eating!  :)  Also, you can make it as hot or mild as you’d like!  Grab some tortilla chips and binge watch your favorite show this weekend with this tasty copycat recipe!  ENJOY!

Copycat Chipotle Hot Salsa

  • 3 tomatillos, husked
  • 1 jalapeno, diced in 1-inch pieces
  • 6 serrano peppers, stems removed (depends how spicy you want it)
  • 4 roma tomatoes
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 1 can diced fire-roasted tomatoes
  • 2 tsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (depends how spicy you want it)



Place tomatillos on baking sheet and broil for a few minutes until char spots appear.


Add tomatillos, jalapeno, roma tomatoes, serrano peppers, red onions, garlic cloves, and diced tomatoes to a large skillet and simmer over medium heat for 30 minutes to get the flavors to develop.


Next, pour skillet ingredients into a blender and add lime juice, salt, cayenne, sugar, and red pepper flakes and puree (depending on your blender, you may want to take the top off and place a towel over so it doesn't splatter all over you AND your kitchen).


Refrigerate at least 24 hours before serving.
