Have you ever seen the video floating around Facebook about the Pizza Pot Pie from the world famous Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinders restaurant? Well, we have actually ate at said restaurant years ago and it is just as delicious as it looks! :) I’m not even a huge pizza fan, but I do enjoy the Pizza Pot Pie! The history behind the restaurant is also one you’ should check out if you’re ever in Chicago! Word of warning, they only take cash!!
They are actually pretty easy to make at home, but I’ll be honest, they don’t taste nearly as good. :) However they definitely are worth trying to perfect! :) ENJOY!
Famous Pizza Pot Pie CopycatPrint Recipe
- Small-medium glass bowl
- Cooking Spray
- refrigerated or homemade pizza dough
- pizza sauce
- bulk sausage, cooked
- 4-5 large slices pepperoni
- 4-5 sliced mozzarella cheese
- 1-2 tbsp butter, melted
- Italian seasoning
Spray the entire bowl, including the top edge of the glass bowl with cooking spray.
Fill the bottom of the bowl with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.
Then top with cooked sausage and pizza sauce.
Lay the dough on top to cover the glass bowl completely, cut excess so the dough is in a circle around the bowl; make sure the dough goes down the side of the bowl about 1".
Brush the top of the dough/bowl with butter and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
Bake according to dough directions or until baked through and golden.
When done, let sit 5 minutes, then flip the bowl upside-down on a plate to remove the pot pie from the bowl, onto the plate.
The pizza pot pie will be "right-side up" on the plate with the dough on the bottom.
